About
Renji is built by Balingene N'sii Dan, a third-year software engineering student at United States International University – Africa, Nairobi, Kenya.
Frontier AI systems are being deployed faster than the work to make them verifiably safe. Most of the people doing alignment research sit inside a handful of well-funded labs in two countries. I started this project because I think the problem is too important to leave to that small group, and because the experiments I want to run do not require their resources — only enough compute to finish them.
V6.1 shipped May 2026: a heart-first controller that sits in front of a vessel language model and steers it at inference time. The validated capabilities are listed on the landing page; the audit-flagged ones are listed there too. V7 — a multi-tenant API that lets any company use their own model as the vessel — is in active development.
This work is supported by faculty at USIU-Africa. It is not affiliated with any AI lab.
